Service, Parking Limitations Due to Central Parkway & Walnut Water Main Repair
CINCINNATI -- Service limitations and parking restrictions will be in place Downtown into Friday morning due to a water main repair on Central Parkway and Walnut Street.

Water will be shut off in the area from midnight until 6:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20 while Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) crews perform repairs.
There will be no parking around the repair zone from 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, to 8:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20. "No Parking" signs are currently posted and officers from the Cincinnati Police Department will assist with parking enforcement.
Repairs are expected to be completed, and water service restored, by 6:00 a.m. Friday morning. However, some restoration work may last into the weekend.
Water Works valve operators are currently going door-to-door, notifying businesses and residents of the planned water shutdown.
Background
The week of Jan. 9, a water leak was reported at the corner of Central Parkway and Walnut Street in Downtown. At that time, the leak was small and was adequately draining into a sewer. Due to its proximity to other utilities (gas/electric) and a large water transmission main in the area, repairing this leak is complex and additional review was required prior to repair.

GCWW repair crews pinpointed the exact location of the leak, in preparation for making the repairs.
A repair plan was developed and outlined, and now crews are moving forward.
Current Action and Notification Plan
As part of the public outreach process, GCWW contacted businesses and residents impacted to determine the best time for a necessary service interruption. Based on their responses, it was decided the shutdown to complete the repair should take place Thursday evening.
Crews started the repairs Thursday afternoon. They plan to continue working through the night.
The impact on parking will remain in place and crews will be onsite until the repair is complete and the road is restored. Drivers are reminded to use caution in the area and to seek alternate parking and routes.
