GCWW Reminder -- NO ID, NO ENTRY
Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) would like to remind all customers about its suggested NO ID, NO ENTRY policy related to at-home visits by individuals claiming to work for GCWW. Residents should always ask for a GCWW employee ID and to look for the GCWW logo on their clothing.
Below are some additional suggested safety measures to help protect you from attempted fraud.
- If someone comes to your door and says they are with GCWW, always ask to see their ID before you let them (or anyone) into your home.
- Each GCWW employee carries a picture ID, and personnel who may be on your street or may approach your home wear blue, brown, grey or high-visibility uniforms with "Greater Cincinnati Water Works" logos on their apparel and hats. GCWW trucks and equipment are also clearly identified.
- GCWW sometimes uses contractors for certain services, including our meter change-outs.
Contractors will have a GCWW ID as well as their company ID.
Each year the GCWW Contact Center receives a small number of reports regarding suspicious activity in the Cincinnati area, in which members of the public fraudulently impersonate GCWW workers. When incidents occur, GCWW informs and works closely with the City of Cincinnati Police Department (CPD) Intelligence Unit.
If you have any suspicions about a person claiming to be a GCWW employee, please call a GCWW Call Center Representative immediately at 513-591-7700. Do not let the person into your home before calling.
