Sewer, Water and Stormwater Departments Kick Off Student Intern Academy
CINCINNATI – The City of Cincinnati’s sewer, water and stormwater departments are partnering with the Cincinnati Public and Hamilton County partner schools, and parochial schools to kick off the ninth year of the Student Intern Academy summer youth employment for local students.
Today approximately 70 students will participate in an orientation to the program and receive their job assignments. The Student Intern Academy is an eight-week educational summer youth employment program. Students will be working at numerous City of Cincinnati departments and local businesses.
In addition, to gaining valuable work experience, the students will meet each Friday for professional development. The professional development training, provided by Make IT Plain Consulting, LLC, includes financial literacy, goal setting, resume development, career development, emotional intelligence and diversity, customer focus and personal branding, communications, problem solving, team work, business sophistication, decision-making, and critical thinking.
“As our utilities’ workforce continue to age, it is critical that we expose and educate Greater Cincinnati youth to public sector careers in environmental management to help develop our future workforce,” said Tony Parrott, MSD’s Executive Director.
