City Planning and Engagement

The first step of the BuildReady initiative was an extensive research phase. As part of the research, the project team posted a Request for Information (RFI) on March 3, 2026. The RFI solicited feedback from development professionals such as architects, developers, contractors, and engineers about hosting a design competition, developing a pre-approved plan program, and building middle housing. The RFI specifically sought feedback in order to 

• Refine the process for the design competition and the RFP for pre-approved plans
• Ensure broad participation in the design competition and usage of pre-approved plans
• Further understand existing barriers to construction of this style of housing overall
• Design meaningful engagement with residents and the local development community

Submissions closed on March 27, 2026. Responses directly informed the direction of the BuildReady project and key elements of the Design Competition and Pre-Approved Plans program.

RFI Q&A Sessions

Two virtual meetings were held on March 10, 2026 and March 12, 2026 to provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions fo the project team and provide their feedback via discussion.
