Streetcar Progress Update: Week Ending April 18, 2014

This week marks a big milestone for the Streetcar Project. Work began on the first curved section of track at Henry & Elm streets.

In the photo, you can see how crews suspend sections of rail as a series of rollers bend it to the proper radius.

Construction crews started erecting structural steel at the Maintenance & Operations Facility this week. This steel provides the framework for the building. Work will continue for about 6 weeks.

Work on the station stop outside of Music Hall continues with the setting and leveling of granite curb. Design features such as granite curb and tiles were chosen to match Washington Park's renovation.

Trackwork continues on Central Parkway, completing 6,621 track feet to date.

Traffic Alerts

The westbound lanes of Central Parkway at Race Street will be closed from 6 p.m. Thursday, April 24, until 7 a.m. Monday, April 28, so crews can do prep work for track installation.
