Free Food Scrap Drop-Off Program
Cincinnati is piloting a new program to expand neighborhood access to food scrap drop-off sites with the help of Queen City Commons. This work is supported by the Composting & Food Waste Reduction Grant project award no. 2024-70510-41985, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
The first phase is currently underway in Northside, with Hyde Park up next. This initiative aims to significantly reduce the amount of food waste sent to the landfill—which made up 16.8% of Cincinnati’s waste in 2021—and cut down on methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas.
