7 CRC Pools to Open Monday, June 8
Jun 03, 2020
CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) will open seven of its public pools for the summer season on Monday, June 8. In order to safely open in accordance with guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health, the CRC has implemented a series of administrative procedures.
The goal of these policies is to ensure appropriate social distancing, accommodate an enhanced cleaning and sanitation schedule and maximize the availability of these important community resources to as many residents of Cincinnati as possible.
Guidelines are outlined below. You can find additional details about the reopening process on the CRC website.
“Even though this summer doesn’t look or feel quite the same as other summers, we are pleased to be able to offer our citizens some relief from the heat and a place where families can have some fun together,” said CRC Dir. Daniel Betts.
CRC Pools Opening
Dempsey (Price Hill), Evanston, Pleasant Ridge, Hirsch, McKie, Oakley and Dunham will open on Monday, June 8. Weekeday pool hours for each of these pools will be noon to 7 p.m., Monday – Friday. Dempsey, Evanston and Hirsch will also be open Saturday (not Sunday) from 11a.m. to 6 p.m. Dunham, Oakley, Pleasant Ridge and McKie are open both Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
After initial evaluation, additional pools may open at a later date.
Safety Policies
In order to open these pools safely, there will be strict rules that the public will need to follow. Each pool will have a maximum capacity in order to allow for social distancing. There will be specific blocks of time when the pool will be available for public swimming. The pool will be cleaned and sanitized after each block of time. To cut down on congestions and confusion, the public will need to make a reservation for a specific block of time in advance of coming to the pool.
Making Reservations
A reservation can be made through the CRC facility where the pool is located. In order to allow for opportunities for the most people to have access to the pool, the public will be limited on how many blocks of time they can reserve. Reservations can be made seven days in advance, starting Wednesday, June 3. The phone numbers for the centers and specific details for each pool are listed under Reopening Updates on the CRC website – www.cincyrec.org.
