Mayor, City Manager, & Councilmember Landsman Announce Carryover Budget Proposal

Oct 07, 2022

This morning, alongside City Manager Sheryl Long and Budget & Finance Committee Chair Councilmember Greg Landsman, Mayor Aftab discussed the details of the City’s $85.1 million recommended Carryover Budget.

This package ensures that the City is building on its commitment to securing financial stability while making strategic investments to support neighborhoods, improve our infrastructure, and drive equitable progress toward Cincinnati’s future.

“In this year’s budget, thanks to careful planning by our Administration, we took critical steps to protect Cincinnati’s financial stability during this historically uncertain time,” Mayor Aftab said.  “This carryover not only supplies a record level of reserves; it proves we are delivering on our promise to invest in our priorities and transformative initiatives that will allow Cincinnati to grow and thrive for generations to come.”

“This budget highlights the continuous commitment of building our reserves, working in partnership with community, investment in employees, cutting edge pilots and programs and investment in our youth,” City Manager Sheryl Long said. “I am excited to report that this is the first time we have reached the threshold of 16.7% of general fund revenue set aside in reserves, providing a meaningful contribution to our rainy-day fund.”

“When you have folks working and communicating really well together while engaging the community, you get better results,” Councilmember Greg Landsman said.  The Budget reflected that; this Carryover Budget reflects that.”

On Monday, Councilmember Greg Landsman will host the first of two public presentations in Budget & Finance Committee for Councilmembers and residents to offer feedback.
