The Emergency Communications Center (ECC) has added new alert categories to the CincyAlert service, which allows the City to communicate important and timely information to users who have opted in. CincyAlerts are available via text, email, or both. The City is currently in the pilot phase of this expansion, using feedback, metrics, and learnings to outline internal processes for full implementation later this year.
CincyAlert is used for both emergency and non-emergency communications. The six non-emergency CincyAlert categories are:
311 Municipal Alerts: Updates regarding service delivery, including trash pickup, street cleaning, winter weather operations, and more.
*Road Closures: Traffic alerts regarding road and sidewalk closures, including detour information, for both planned construction and unplanned closures.
*Engagement Opportunities: Details about upcoming community engagement opportunities, both Citywide and in your neighborhood.
*Press Releases: Official announcements from the City of Cincinnati.
*Newsletter: Receive an official City of Cincinnati newsletter.
Test Alerts: Receive a monthly test to confirm CincyAlerts are delivered properly.
* Denotes a new category
To sign up, visit CincyAlert.org. Users can create a profile, select which alert categories they’re interested in, choose their preferred communication method(s), and change their preferences at any time.
Existing users who wish to receive new alert types should log into their CincyAlert profile to update their selections.
CincyAlert is powered by Smart911, which also allows users to set up a Safety Profile to automatically share vital information with call-takers in the event of calling 911—including address and property details, information about family/household members, medical needs, and more.
