Gilbert Ave Complete Street Project
The Gilbert Ave Complete Street Project will focus on calming traffic and increasing safety and comfort for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and drivers.
Phase 1 of the project will right-size 2 miles of Gilbert Ave, add protected bike lanes, and reduce the length of key pedestrian crossings between Court Street and MLK Drive. These improvements will increase safety for all roadway users in this key corridor connecting the neighborhood of Walnut Hills to downtown Cincinnati.
Planning, design, and community engagement happened throughout 2024-2025. Construction is slated to begin in Summer 2026.

Phase 2 of this project will extend the limits .5 miles across MLK just past Victory Parkway into Evanston. Design for this phase of the project began in Spring 2026. Community engagement is forthcoming this Fall/Winter. Phase 2 is primarily funded through federal grants.
