Bike Plan

Throughout 2022 we collected public feedback on draft maps showing potential bike corridors in every part of the city. This feedback was used to prioritize which corridors we would focus our efforts on over the next 10 years.

Implementation of bike lanes on many of these streets may require trade-offs such as consolidation of on-street parking or removal of a travel lane.  DOTE will work with the respective community councils to collect additional community feedback on the specific trade-offs required before moving forward with any project.

In a perfect world we would build out our entire bike network immediately. Unfortunately, how much we can build and when is limited by available funding. Bike lane installation typically requires the re-design and repaving of an entire corridor, with a price tag in the millions. Off street trails are even more expensive. We primarily rely on State and Federal grants to leverage limited City funds and implement these projects.

View a map of priority corridors in our interactive Bike Network Map. Click "Bike Plan" in the layer list on the left to see proposed bike lanes and trails. You can click on each proposed facility to see if there is a construction year planned (typically when the grant agency expects to release funds to us). You can read more about the progress of many of these projects on the Bike Projects webpage.
