Streetcar Progress Update: September 21, 2015

12th Street Closed Tonight for Underground Electric Work          

Closures on and around the intersection of 12th and Race Streets will be in effect tonight, from 7:00pm on Monday, September 21 until 5:30am on Tuesday, September 22. As part of the closure, Race Street will be closed at 13th Street south of the Washington Park Garage, and 12th Street will be closed from Elm to Vine.  Detours will be posted.

Overhead Wire Pull along Walnut Street Scheduled for September 24

Crews will begin pulling overhead wire in downtown along Walnut Street between court and 2nd Streets on Thursday, September 24 between 7:00pm and 5:30am on Friday, September 25.

MAIN STREET:

  • 2nd  to 4th:  OCS banding, brackets, & arms installation (2 weeks remaining), sidewalk and ramp restoration (1 week remaining)
  • 2nd to 7thpaver restoration (2 weeks remaining)
  • 8th to 9th:  Milling, grinding, temporary striping & signage for asphalt re-paving work (1 week remaining)
  • 9th to 12th:  casting adjustments (1 week remaining)
  • Court to 12thpaving (1 week remaining)

 

 WALNUT STREET:

  • 2nd to Central Parkway:  OCS wire pull and adjustments (3 weeks remaining)
  • 5th to 9thtraffic signal work (2 weeks remaining)
  • 5th to Govt. Place:  sidewalk and curb ramp restoration (1 week remaining)

 

12th STREET:

  •  Main to Vine:  paving, casting adjustments (1 week remaining)

City construction inspectors check OCS wire connections on the boom arms as part of the quality assurance process.

Paving continues along Main Street this week.

Special concrete paving at the 2nd and Walnut intersection was also completed last week. At the end of October, the last piece of rail will be installed just a block away from the site at the corner of 2nd and Main.
