Traffic Info: Light up the Square

CINCINNATI – Light Up the Square will be held this year on Friday, November 29, 2019. This annual event is held on Fountain Square at the corner of Vine Street and Fifth Street in downtown Cincinnati and marks the beginning of the holiday season with the lighting of the tree on Fountain Square. It has also been rumored that Santa Claus himself may make an appearance.
In order to set up the event, the following street will close on Wednesday, November 27 at 6:00 p.m. (and remain closed until after the event):
Fifth Street- closed between Vine Street and Walnut Street
In order to accommodate this event, the following streets will close on Friday, November 29 at times listed below until approximately 12:00 p.m.:
Fifth Street- closed between Race Street and Vine Street at 6:00 p.m.
Vine Street- closed between Fourth Street and Sixth Street at 6:00 p.m.
(access to the Westin Hotel will be maintained)
All parking on the above street segments will be prohibited. The Fountain Square garage will be open but can only be accessed from the Walnut Street entrance.
METRO BUS SERVICE THAT NORMALLY USES THIS AREA WILL BE DETOURED AROUND THE CLOSURE. RIDERS SHOULD FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS POSTED AT THEIR STOP OR USE THE NEAREST STOP OUTSIDE THE CLOSURE AREA.
Motorists not destined for the area are encouraged to use alternate routes.
