Aug 05, 2021

The Clifton Heights Community and Urban Redevelopment Corporation (CHCURC) joined the Clifton Heights Neighborhood Association and City of Cincinnati Office of Aging and Accessibility Thursday August 5thto unveil a crosswalk mural at the corner of Stratford Avenue and Joselin Avenue.

The crosswalk mural project was awarded a 2020 AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) Community Challenge grant which funds quick action initiatives that make a place more livable for people of all ages. This is the first project in the City of Cincinnati to be recognized by the AARP.

The Office of Aging and Accessibility and CHCURC jointly applied for the project in 2020 to bring both students and long-term Clifton Heights residents together to participate in a placemaking project to assist with pedestrian safety in the area. Students from UC DAAP program (Design Architecture Art and Planning) submitted designs for selection by the Clifton Heights Neighborhood Association. Installation of the mural this week by students and community members coincides with the student population returning for fall classes.
