Gilbert Ave Complete Street Project - Phase 2
The Gilbert Ave Complete Street Project will focus on calming traffic and increasing safety and comfort for pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users, and drivers.
The second phase extends the project limits .5 miles across MLK, just past Victory Parkway, into Evanston at Dixmont Avenue, connecting the Walnut Hills and Evanston neighborhoods. Improvements will include rightsizing the roadway, intersection improvements, and a protected bike lane. Design for this phase began in Spring 2026, with community engagement planned for Fall/Winter 2026. Construction is slated for Summer 2029.
Phase 2 is primarily funded through OKI-STBG federal grant dollars.
