Barking or Nuisance Dog Complaint

More Information:

  • According to Cincinnati Municipal Code 701-27: "No person shall harbor or keep any animal of the dog kind which by loud and frequent or habitual barking or yelping shall cause serious annoyance or disturbance to the neighborhood." Chapter 701, broadly, speaks to animal regulations.
  • The Cincinnati Police Department handles enforcement regarding nuisance / dog barking complaints (not Cincinnati Animal Cares, the Hamilton County Dog Warden).
  • If this is regarding a stray dog, those investigations are the responsibility of Cincinnati Animal Cares (the Hamilton County Dog Warden).
  • If the noise is intermittent, please contact us when it is in progress.

Process:

  • Complaints regarding community noise are received by the 311 center and dispatched to the Cincinnati Police Department for investigation.
  • CPD's process is described further in Police Procedure 12.115.
