Animal Control

Depending on the issue, type of animal, and location, the agency that assists you will vary. Call us at 311 or 513-765-1212 and we can help direct you to the proper resource. 

  • According to Ohio law, each county's board of commissioners appoints a county dog warden and deputies. Hamilton County responds to public safety concerns about stray and dangerous dogs by contracting animal control and shelter services with local nonprofit Cincinnati Animal CARE. You may contact Cincinnati Animal CARE at 513-541-PETS (7387).
  • Reports of lost and found pets are referred to Cincinnati Animal CARE.
  • The Cincinnati Police Department will respond to reports of dangerous or injured animals and may request the assistance of the county dog warden, Cincinnati Animal CARE.
