CRC is Giving FREE 2015 Public Swim Lessons
May 19, 2015
You can learn to swim for free this summer! Click the headline to learn more.
CRC’s “I CAN SWIM!” Project and scholarship program is American Red Cross instruction designed to help swimmers of all ages begin, develop and refine their swimming skills. CRC staff teach swimming and water safety and help children and adults to be safe in and around the water – regardless of the ability to pay.
2015 “I CAN SWIM!” public lessons are free of charge thanks to a generous donation from the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office and Greenpeace and a grant from the USA Swimming Foundation’s Make A Splash program.
“I CAN SWIM!” is dedicated to the memory of Cameron Jeff (age 10) and his brother Bryce (age 8), who tragically drowned in a neighbor’s backyard pool because they were unable to swim. Spearheaded by their parents, the “I CAN SWIM!” project aims to give meaning to Cameron and Bryce’s heartbreaking deaths.
Participants are asked to provide a $20 donation to pay it forward, if they can, to ensure all children and adults have the opportunity to learn to swim for years to come.
NOTE: Swim lessons for day camps, daycares and babysitting services are fee based and are not included in the available free public swim lessons. The cost is $20 per 4-week session.
Every day, about 10 people die from unintentional drowning. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). CRC’s “I CAN SWIM!” project strives to lower this number – to decrease the number of deaths and injuries from water-related accidents.
Dempsey, Dunham Otto Armleder, McKie and Pleasant Ridge Pools open May 23, 2015. All other CRC pools open June 2.
Go to the pool of your choice to register for “I CAN SWIM!” lessons. Online registration is not available.
