Over-the-Rhine Historic Conservation Guidelines for New Construction

This item was approved by City Council on May 10, 2023 and went into effect on June 10, 2023.
Background

The Over-the-Rhine Historic District Conservation Guidelines for New Construction are proposed to be updated. The current Over-the-Rhine Historic District Conservation Guidelines were most recently updated in 2003. These guidelines provide a regulatory framework for ensuring that new construction occurs in a manner that preserves and protects the Over-the-Rhine Historic District for current and future generations of Cincinnatians and visitors alike. These guidelines were developed through a community effort led by the Over-the-Rhine Foundation, the Over-the-Rhine Foundation's Infill Committee, and professional consultants. The application also is for an update to the Non-Contributing list.

On December 2, 2022 City Planning Commission Approved the 2023 Revised Guidelines. The item returned to the Planning Commission for final approval with no further changes on April 7, 2023. It was then approved by the Equitable Growth and Housing Committee on May 9, 2023 and full Council on May 10, 2023.
