CINCINNATI – Representatives of the City of Cincinnati’s Data and Innovation team sat down with TechRepublic during the recent Smart Cincy Summit to discuss efforts to make Cincinnati a smart(er) city.
Reporter Teena Maddox talked to City Manager Harry Black, Chief Performance Officer Leigh Tami, and Chief Data Officer Brandon Crowley about a variety of topics related to the City’s smart city initiatives. Subjects that came up during the interviews at Union Hall in Over-the-Rhine ranged from the importance of open source data, the “deep dive” into City data, how the Office of Performance and Data Analytics is reshaping City services, and what the recently launched Smart Cincy RFQ/RFP could mean for Cincinnati in the future.
Now, the City is looking externally to add more services such as "broadband, public Wi-Fi, air quality alerts, traffic light management in real time, and gunshot detection technology," Black said.
"Clearly our society is evolving. We're going to the next generation of mankind and society and technology is clearly playing a major role in that," he continued.
