City, Partners Break Ground on Mt. Airy Forest Mountain Bike Trail
Multi-use path will be 1st Cincy Parks trail to accomodate mountain bikes
CINCINNATI – Mayor John Cranley joined leaders from Cincinnati Parks and local bike organizations Tuesday, July 3 to formally break ground on a first-of-its-kind mountain bike trail in Mount Airy Forest.
Once complete, the multi-use path will be at least 4 miles long and accommodate hikers, walkers, joggers and all types of bikes including mountain bikes, making it the first trail in the Cincinnati Park system to accommodate mountain bikes. This project will serve as pilot trail for Parks.
The entire trail will be built and maintained with generous volunteer labor from the Cincinnati Off Road Alliance (CORA).
This project is a partnership between the City of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Park Board and CORA. However, it would not be possible without the support of numerous other partners such as REI, Reser Bicycles and Cincy Red Bike. We would also like to thank the Northside and Mt. Airy communities for lending their support, guidance and labor to this project.
The involvement of each these groups will not only go toward bettering their community, but enhancing the urban parks and broad communities across Cincinnati.
