Public Comments

Comments were provided in writing and were supportive of the proposed project, other potential recreational improvements, and potential developments. All public comments were required to be submitted at the meeting, via mail, or via email by August 6, 2014 for inclusion in the feasibility study and grant application.

The project team met with Brian Collins the President of the Cincinnati Dinner Train. Mr. Collins stated that he thought the idea of a western dinner train was a good one. However, the owner of the track, Genesee and Wyoming, stated that their rail freight volumes are steadily increasing and they would not have the capacity to allow that type of passenger service. The project team relayed this information to the River West Working Group.

The ORTW will be constructed in accordance with Americans with Disabilities (ADA) and other applicable guidelines in order to assure access for individuals with disabilities.

The project team will work with community leaders to schedule future public meetings after 6:30 P.M.

Expansion and connection of the ORTW to these terminus points have been conceptually studied. These extensions are being considered and evaluated.

ORTW Segment 1 and ORTW Segment 2 are scheduled for construction in 2020. The timeline for ORTW Segment 3 and other extensions is at this time unknown.

Future information will be provided via River West Working Group leaders. Given the late date of formal responses to comments from the public meeting it is appropriate to note that the River West Working Group was involved in finalizing the project’s CMAQ grant application and have been notified of the successful grant application.
