- The health department is concerned with possible exposure to rabies. Exposure includes a bite or scratch that breaks the skin, or the animal's saliva coming into contact with a person's mucous membranes. Exposure also includes waking up to a bat in the room or finding a bat in a room with a small child or infirmed person.
Process:
- A health specialist will contact the victim to discuss rabies protocol, possible testing of animal.
