• Free Smoke Detector Request

Used when:

• This SR type should be used to request FREE smoke detector installation in a residential space.

Routes to:

• Cincinnati Fire Department (CFD)

More Information:

• You can request up to six (6) smoke detectors per household.
• Deaf or hard of hearing? You may qualify for a smoke detection device that produces physical vibrations. These requests will take longer to fulfill, once approved.
• The requestor must own the property for which they are requesting smoke detectors.

Process:

• The Cincinnati Fire Department will contact the requester to coordinate the installation of the free smoke detector(s).

Safety information:

• Smoke detectors should be placed outside of each bedroom and on each level of your home. These should be installed on ceilings or high walls. 
• Smoke detectors should be tested every month, have batteries replaced each year, and replaced entirely every 10 years.
