Celebrate safely! The safest way to enjoy fireworks is by attending a community event with a professional fireworks display. Professional displays are conducted by trained, licensed operators and are designed with safety measures in place to protect spectators, nearby property, and the surrounding community.
In Cincinnati, most consumer fireworks are prohibited. Ohio law allows consumer fireworks in some communities on certain holidays, but cities may restrict or ban their use, and Cincinnati has local restrictions in place. In Cincinnati, only trick and novelty fireworks — such as smoke devices, sparklers, snaps, and snakes — are generally allowed. Firecrackers, bottle rockets, Roman candles, aerial fireworks, mortars, and similar consumer fireworks may not be discharged in the city. - Complaints regarding fireworks are received by the Emergency Communications Center and broadcast or dispatched to Cincinnati Police Department patrol officers for investigation.

- Fireworks can cause fires, burns, eye injuries, hearing damage, and distress for people, pets, and neighbors.
- Do not approach someone who is discharging fireworks or attempt to take fireworks away from another person. Move to a safe location and report the activity.
- Keep children, pets, and vulnerable individuals indoors and away from the area where fireworks are being used.
- Stay away from fireworks that fail to ignite or appear to be “duds.” They can still explode or cause injury.
