Streetcar Progress Update: September 14, 2015

2nd and Walnut Closed this week for Repaving

The intersection of 2nd and Walnut Streets will close starting on Sunday, September 13 until Friday, September 18 at 4:00pm for repaving work in the intersection.  Limited movements through the intersection from southbound Walnut Street onto eastbound 2nd Street will be open, but 2nd Street will be closed at Vine.

MAIN STREET:

  • At 2nd:  OCS banding, brackets, & arms installation (1 week remaining)
  • 3rd to 4th:  traffic signal work (1 week remaining)
  • 4th to 5th:  concrete work, sidewalk and ramp restoration, traffic signal work (1 week remaining)
  • 5th to 6th:  paver restoration  (1 week remaining)
  • 6th to 7th: sidewalk and ramp restoration, paver restoration (1 week remaining)
  • 7th to 8th:  Paver restoration (1 week remaining)
  • 8th to Court:  Milling, grinding, temporary striping & signage for asphalt re-paving work (1 week remaining)
  • Court to 12thcasting adjustments (1 week remaining)

 

 WALNUT STREET:

  • 2nd to 3rd:  concrete paving work (1 week remaining)
  • At 2ndOCS banding, arms, and brackets (1 week remaining)

 

12th STREET:

  •  Main to Vine:  casting adjustments (1 week remaining)

CAF engineers at the Elmira test track perform dynamic tests on Cincinnati Unit #1.

The streetcar won’t go this fast in Cincinnati (it will observe the posted speed limits on City streets), but as part of the dynamic tests, Cincinnati Unit #1 reached a speed of 44 MPH on the test track in Elmira.
