Streetcar Progress Update: September 14, 2015

2nd and Walnut Closed this week for Repaving

The intersection of 2^nd and Walnut Streets will close starting on Sunday, September 13 until Friday, September 18 at 4:00pm for repaving work in the intersection.  Limited movements through the intersection from southbound Walnut Street onto eastbound 2^nd Street will be open, but 2^nd Street will be closed at Vine.

MAIN STREET:

• At 2^nd:  OCS banding, brackets, & arms installation (1 week remaining)
• 3^rd to 4^th:  traffic signal work (1 week remaining)
• 4^th to 5^th:  concrete work, sidewalk and ramp restoration, traffic signal work (1 week remaining)
• 5^th to 6^th:  paver restoration  (1 week remaining)
• 6^th to 7^th: sidewalk and ramp restoration, paver restoration (1 week remaining)
• 7^th to 8^th:  Paver restoration (1 week remaining)
• 8^th to Court:  Milling, grinding, temporary striping & signage for asphalt re-paving work (1 week remaining)
• Court to 12^th:  casting adjustments (1 week remaining)

 

 WALNUT STREET:

• 2^nd to 3^rd:  concrete paving work (1 week remaining)
• At 2^nd:  OCS banding, arms, and brackets (1 week remaining)

 

12^th STREET:

•  Main to Vine:  casting adjustments (1 week remaining)

 

PROGRESS LAST WEEK:

CAF engineers at the Elmira test track perform dynamic tests on Cincinnati Unit #1.

 

These barrels are filled with water to simulate the weight of a full passenger load during dynamic testing.

The streetcar won’t go this fast in Cincinnati (it will observe the posted speed limits on City streets), but as part of the dynamic tests, Cincinnati Unit #1 reached a speed of 44 MPH on the test track in Elmira.
