Streetcar Progress Update: October 13, 2014

First Streetcar Power Substation installed at Maintenance Facility

Last week, the first of four Traction Power Substations (TPSS) was installed at the Maintenance & Operations Facility on Henry Street.  This substation will provide power to the MOF building and adjacent vehicle storage yard.  Future substations will be installed later this year and will provide power to the streetcar track. 

 

Water Main Valve work to restrict traffic at Central Parkway & Main St. and access to HCJFS this week

Starting Monday, Oct. 13, through Friday, Oct. 17, westbound Central Parkway will be closed between Sycamore and Main streets so crews can perform tie-ins on water main valves as part of streetcar-related infrastructure improvements. This is the second of three tie-ins taking place in October in the same area. The third tie-in is scheduled for Oct. 20-24.

Travelers heading west on Central Parkway will be detoured south on Sycamore to Ninth Street to Main and then back to Central Parkway. Eastbound Central Parkway will remain open.  Lanes will also be restricted on Main between Central Parkway and 12th Street through Wednesday, October 15.   

Please note: Vehicular access to the Hamilton County Jobs and Family Services building will be prohibited from Central Parkway.

 

Northern end of Race Street to close on October 13 near Findlay Market for Rail Delivery

On Monday, Oct. 13, Race Street will be closed between McMicken and Elder, and Findlay Street will be closed between Vine and Elm from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to accommodate a rail delivery.

Motorists traveling eastbound on McMicken will be detoured to Liberty. Detour signs will be posted, including additional parking signage on the west side of Findlay Market at Findlay and Elm.

 

Walnut St. to close at 4th Street for intersection work later this week

Walnut Street will be closed south of 4th Street for work in the north half of the 3rd & Walnut intersection from Thursday, October 16 at 9:00am until 6:00am on Monday, October 20.  3rd Street will remain open with some lane restrictions.
 

This work is the second in a 3-part reconstruction of the 3rd Street intersections at Walnut and Main.  The first piece completed last week and the third piece, the intersection of 3rd & Main, will take place in November.    
 

Track Installation to restrict traffic on Walnut between 6th and 7th Starting this Week

Track installation will begin on Monday, October 13 in the block of Walnut between 6th and 7th Streets this week.  Lanes in this block will be restricted, but through traffic will remain open. 

The work will last until October 27 and will include a closure of 6th St. at Walnut during the weekend of October 24-26.

Duke Energy Electric Work to Close Main between 6th & 7th this weekend

Main Street between 6th and 7th Streets will be closed this weekend from October 17-20 for Duke Energy Electric work.  Detours will be posted.
