Warsaw Ave Safety Project
Background
Warsaw Avenue has been identified as a corridor with a high number of vehicular and pedestrian crashes. In 2019 DOTE worked with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to conduct a safety study and develop several new street design options to improve safety on Warsaw Avenue between Glenway and Grand. DOTE worked with the East Price Hill Improvement Association to share these street design options with the community and collect feedback on which design option was preferred. More information about the design options considered can be found under the Community Meetings tab below.
Based on community input, the preferred design is one travel lane in each direction, a center turn lane, and 24 hour parking on one side of the street.
Status
DOTE has already taken steps to improve safety along the Warsaw Avenue corridor including improved signage, the installation of pedestrian-activated flashing lights at crosswalks, the allowance of 24-hour parking, and four sets of speed cushions.
Construction of the new street design will begin in 2025. The project includes the following:
- Extensive sidewalk replacement
- Curb extensions and center lane islands
- Over 50 new street trees
- 5 traffic signal upgrades and a new traffic signal at Woodlawn Avenue
- New full height curb
- 5 sets of permanent speed cushions
- Rehabilitation of the roadway
- Upgrade of ADA curb ramps
Additionally, Water Works will be replacing lead lined water service in conjunction with this project. Construction is expected to be complete by October 2026.
The project will begin the week of November 10th, 2025.
The first phase of the project will involve replacing lead lined water services. Crews will be digging trenches from the water main in the street, and cutting into the sidewalk toward buildings to replace the water line. This phase of the project will take approximately 1 month.
Check back here for more updates on the schedule and work that is occurring.

The estimated cost of the project is $10.9M. The project is being funded by a combination of sources:
- Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority MTIF grant: $2,125,000
- Ohio Public Works Commission grant: $1,272,518
- City of Cincinnati: $7,502,482
