Cincy Freeze & Feed New Location
- Sep 23, 2025
A third site of Cincy Freeze & Feed will open on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1 to 5 p.m. at the Hartwell Recreation Center. Cincy Freeze & Feed is a collaborative program that allows residents to pick up free, nutritious meals for their families. The two other sites, which opened in April, are located in the Millvale Recreation Center in North Fairmount, and in the Hirsch Recreation Center in Avondale.
Funding for Cincy Freeze & Feed is made possible by Hamilton County ReSource. Freezers are owned and operated by Food for the Soul, foods provided by La Soupe, and nutrition/food waste education provided by the Cincinnati Health Department. Freezers are placed strategically in collaboration with Cincinnati Recreation Commission.
Cincy Freeze & Feed is necessary because one in four Hamilton County residents face food insecurity and/or live in a food desert area (a neighborhood lacking a grocery store). These organizations jointly recognize this need and collaborate to provide a solution. In addition, Cincy Freeze & Feed ensures healthy food gets to residents instead of the landfill.
