Minor Traffic Changes in OTR for Outdoor Street Dining Areas
May 14, 2020
CINCINNATI – There will be a handful of minor traffic changes in Over-the-Rhine beginning the weekend as the City of Cincinnati kicks off the first phase of its Temporary Outdoor Street Dining program.
Pending final, the following changes will go into effect tomorrow, Friday, May 15: t
- There will be multiple partial street closures on 15th Street – from Vine Street to Pervis Alley and from Race Street to Goose Alley.
- Additionally, six participating restaurants in OTR are taking over parking lanes in front of their businesses. While these will not require full closures some minor traffic delays should be expected when traveling through the area.

The City of Cincinnati launched the Temporary Outdoor Street Dining pilot program as a way to help businesses recover from the effects of COVID-19. This pilot enables restaurants and bars within City limits to expand their business footprint onto the public right-of-way (ROW) or in privately owned parking facilities during the COVID-19 public health crisis. As of Thursday, May 14, eight restaurants in OTR had submitted the appropriate paperwork to the City and State of Ohio.
Final approval from both the City and the State are required in order to operate an Outdoor Street Dining Area anywhere within City limits.
