Intermittent Overnight Closures on NB I-75 from Paddock Road to Galbraith

Crews for City of Cincinnati Installing Fiber Optic Cable
CINCINNATI – Northbound Interstate 75 will be closed intermittently between Paddock Road and Galbraith Road beginning at midnight Sunday, March 14, until 4:00 a.m. Monday, March 15, so crews can install overhead fiber optic cable.
In addition, the northbound entrance ramps to I-75 at Paddock and Galbraith roads will be closed intermittently during the same period.
The short-term closures will be in place for 15 minutes, alternating with through traffic for 15 minutes. The alternating pattern will continue until crews have completed the installation.
Police will be on site to manage the closures and direct motorists.
This is the last phase of fiber optic cable being installed as part of a $4.5 million infrastructure upgrade from analog to fiber optics by the City of Cincinnati’s Department of Transportation & Engineering. The project has included the installation of nearly 90,000 feet of cable, mostly overhead. It will serve Paddock Hills, Bond Hill, Carthage, Hartwell, Roselawn, Pleasant Ridge and Kennedy Heights.
The new system, which is expected to go live next month, will be used to better manage traffic signals, upgrade signal controllers and accommodate traffic monitoring cameras. It is being paid for with state and federal funds.
