Construction-Related Road Closures, Lane Restrictions This Week (Week of June 19)

Here's a list of road closures and lane restrictions in Downtown Cincinnati, Over-the-Rhine and The Banks during the week of June 19. There's also a map at the bottom of the page that pinpoints specific areas.

Downtown

I-71 Bridge Deck Replacement over Eggleston Avenue: The Third Street exit ramp off I-171 south closed until September 2017 for ODOT project to reconstruct the bridge decks on north & south 71 between the Mount Adams Pedestrian Bridge & Lytle Tunnel entrance.

  • Detour: Gilbert to 8th to Sycamore to 3rd to I-71 south entrance. 
    • Northbound lanes of I-71 temporarily relocated to southbound side of the interstate.
    • Southbound traffic reduced to two lanes through the Lytle Tunnel to Mt. Adams pedestrian bridge. 

Fifth Street entrance ramp to I-71 North: Closed through September for upgrades to Lytle Tunnel and I-71 bridge deck replacement.

  • Detours:
    • Walnut to Second Street to I-71 north ramp.
    • Third to Walnut to Second Street to I-71 north ramp.
    • Broadway to Gilbert to I-71 north ramp. 
       

The Banks

Joe Nuxhall Way between Merhring Way and Freedom Way: Sidewalk restrictions in place until July 31. Crews nearing the end of construction of the AC Marriott Hotel.
 

Central Business District

Oneida Alley between Vine & Race: Road closed for utility work.
 
Central Parkway between Vine & Race: Lane restrictions on both sides of Central Parkway through mid July for utility work.

Court Street between Vine & Race: Westbound lane closed daily through July 7 for utility work.

West 3rd Street: Demolition of former Dunnhumby building. John Street between Central Avenue and Clay Wade Bailey Bridge is closed until July 31. In addition, the westbound curb lane on West Third Street between Central Avenue and John Street remains closed until further notice for emergency utility repairs.

Sixth Street at Broadway and Leslie Alley/Main Street: North lane closed between Sycamore & Main Street at Leslie Alley and lane closed on south side of street at Broadway for Duke Electric manhole work. Closures in place through early May. Seek alternate route during morning rush hour due to slow traffic.

Sixth Street at Broadway: South lane closed on Sixth at Broadway for Duke Electric transformer replacement in underground vault. Closure in place through June. Seek alternate route during morning rush hour due to slow traffic.

Main & Seventh:  Demolition of former Dennison Hotel continues. Sidewalk restrictions in place on Main & Seventh streets.

Fifth Street between Broadway & Sycamore: North curb lane & sidewalk closed for ongoing streetscape improvements to Procter & Gamble Plaza.

Fourth Street at Sycamore: Sidewalk closed for renovations to building at Eighth E. Fourth St.

Eggleston Shared Path: Crews doing restoration work. Intermittent lane closures remain in place.

Rodney Alley: Closed through June between 14th and Mercer.

Fourth and Race Area: Demolition is complete. Curb lane and sidewalks around the site remain closed. Crews expected to begin construction at the site in July.

Eighth & Sycamore Residential Tower: Curb lane and sidewalk around site closed for construction of residential tower. Extra lane closed intermittently on 8th for crane deliveries and concrete pours.


Lytle Park Area

Lytle Street Between Pike Street & West Terminus: Closed for repairs to Lytle Tunnel. The east half of Lytle Park (above the tunnel) also is closed during the repairs and reconstruction.
 

Over-the-Rhine

12th Street between Elm & Central Parkway: Daily road closure through May 27 for Shakespeare Theater.

Elm Street, Gandolfo to 12th: West curb lane and sidewalk closed during construction of Cincinnati Shakespeare Co. theater. Additional lane closed, as needed, for concrete pours and materials deliveries.

Sycamore & 14th Streets: Two-way traffic allowed but Sycamore is reduced to one lane in each direction between 13th and 14th for concrete pours and materials deliveries. Sidewalk around the site and other restrictions to remain in place through July 2017 for Ziegler Park improvements.

15th & Vine: Southwest corner sidewalk closed for apartment construction project.

15th Street between Vine & Republic: Road closed through May 2018.
