Services Remember, Honor Fallen CPD Police Officer Sonny Kim
CINCINNATI -- City of Cincinnati and FOP Lodge 69 are releasing details about the public visitation and funeral this week for District 2 police Officer Sonny Kim, who was killed in the line of duty June 19.
Visitation for Officer Kim will take place from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Xavier University's Cintas Center. Fraternal Order of Police services will begin at 7 p.m. and the general public will be asked to leave.
The funeral and burial will take place Friday. Everyone in Cincinnati is asked to wear blue to honor Officer Kim's life and commitment to the city and the people who call it home.
City Manager Harry Black's Remarks
The funeral service will be held at the Cintas Center at 11 a.m. Friday, followed by a 14-mile procession to the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. (A detailed map is available below)
Please note motorists should expect delays along Montgomery Road during the funeral procession.
All northbound lanes will be shut down. There are no plans to shut down the southbound lanes of travel on Montgomery Road. But travel will be very slow at times as drivers tend to pull to the side of the road or stop in order to let the procession pass through the area.
Also, the ramps from east and westbound Interstate 275 to Montgomery Road will be closed to traffic from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. to accommodate the funeral procession.
The ramp from eastbound Ronald Reagan to northbound Montgomery Road will be closed at approximately 1 p.m. as well. It will remain closed for approximately two hours.
