Join Us for 2018 Cincinnati Neighborhood Games
Jul 16, 2018
CINCINNATI – Calling all Cincinnatians! Don’t forget to join us for the finals of the 2018 Cincinnati Neighborhood Games.
From July 20 to July 28, the entire City of Cincinnati will come together for the Cincinnati Neighborhood Games, a unique community-building athletic competition that brings all 52 Cincinnati neighborhoods together for fun competitions and camaraderie.
The week of events will begin with a bicycle torch relay that will take cyclists across the Queen City between Friday, July 20 into Saturday, July 21. The relay will conclude Saturday at Washington Park with a Parade of Neighborhoods that will feature participants from each neighborhood following their neighborhood flag for the opening ceremonies.
The parade will be emceed by WLWT’s Megan Mitchell and Assistant City Manager John Juech. There will also be live music, games for the whole family, and plenty of food and beverage options.
Finals events will take place at a variety of venues across town from Sunday, July 22 through Saturday, July 28 – West End YMCA, MadTree Barrel Room, Christian Moerlein Tap Room and Yeatman’s Cove. Full details below. The Games will conclude with a closing ceremony – and a whole lot of fun – at Yeatman’s Cove on the evening of Saturday, July 28.
How It Works?
To take part, one must either live, work, worship, or attend school in a Cincinnati neighborhood. There are no other limitations other than a participant may only represent one neighborhood. For instance, if you live in Westwood but work in Hyde Park, you must select one or the other to represent.
Some finalists have already been determined through Neighborhood Qualifiers, which took place this spring in individual neighborhoods. Now, the neighborhood winners will represent their respective communities in the finals in Downtown/Over-the-Rhine.
(Don’t tell anyone: the finals competitions to others who show up to the event so make sure to come ready to compete).
Hope to see you showing some neighborhood pride this week!
