City Named 'Outstanding Employer' by Workforce Council of SW Ohio

On February 9th, the City of Cincinnati was named one of the Workforce Council of Southwest Ohio's Outstanding Employers. This award, given to only three organizations this year, was part of the Workforce Council's Champion Awards to recognize local individuals and organizations for their outstanding workforce development achievements in Cincinnati and Hamilton County.
Last fall, the Ohio Means Jobs (OMJ) business services team connected with the City's new Human Resources Director and Deputy Director, about partnering with the OMJ Center for job fairs. Since then, the City has been an instrumental partner with multiple hiring events. In addition, the City helped facilitate workshops that educated job seekers on "How to Apply for City of Cincinnati Jobs". These workshops, presented by Kelly Carr, have helped drive attendance at events as well as assist job seekers in learning about the excellent opportunities with City of Cincinnati. On hand at the event representing the City's HR team were Kelly Carr, Crystal Jackson, Jude Johnson, Nicki Knox, and Ashley Thomas.

The Outstanding Employer category recognizes successful employer partnerships as demonstrated by hiring, training, and/or advancing customers in the public workforce system (including but not limited to. Dislocated Workers, Adults, Youth/Young Adults, Veterans, Individuals with Disabilities, and Returning Citizens). Ideal employers for this award also actively participating in hiring events,/job fairs, On-the-Job Training, and other innovative workplace solutions.
