Allston Street in Oakley Honorarily Named James T. Aglamesis Way

CINCINNATI - The street renaming was in memory of James T. Aglamesis in recognition of his contributions to the City of Cincinnati through his entrepreneurship. Aglamesis Bro's Ice Cream and Candy was co-founded in 1908 by brothers Thomas and Nicholas Aglamesis, specializes in ice cream and candy manufacturing. Mr. Aglamesis advanced the business through expansion and modernization, opening a second location in the Montgomery Square Shopping Center in 1970 and remodeling the Oakley location to include a new storefront and a small chocolate production area, for which the company received the City of Cincinnati Beautification Award in 1965. In 2016 Mr. Aglamesis transferred company leadership to his son Randy Young, but continued to work actively past age 90 in the company. Mr. Aglamesis' legacy lives on, as the company's traditions continue under the leadership of the third and fourth generations of family members.
