City, Councilmember Harris, 3CDC and Cincinnati Pride Announce Updates to Pride Crosswalk

Nov 16, 2022

The City of Cincinnati, alongside Councilmember Reggie Harris, Cincinnati Pride and Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC), have come together to revitalize the rainbow crosswalk at 12th and Vine Street.

“This update is an important reminder of our commitment to making Cincinnati more inclusive. These symbols, when paired with legislative action, make our City more inviting to guests, more welcoming to visitors, and a safer place to live for our residents.  It also serves as a reminder that the journey to equality is never complete, and we are always on the path to becoming a more perfect Union,” said Councilmember Reggie Harris.

The crosswalks that line Vine Street where it intersects with 12th Street are being re-painted and expanded. The original Pride crosswalk was completed in 2018. The crosswalk is being updated to provide more vibrant colors as well as a more inclusive design. In addition to the original crosswalk being updated, the crosswalk that runs parallel to the original rainbow crosswalk will also be painted to match. This location marks a highly visible and heavily trafficked part of our OTR neighborhood where visitors to the city often dine, shop, and sightsee while here.

“We’re honored to be working with Councilmember Harris and Cincinnati Pride on the update and enhancement of the Pride crosswalk, which adds vibrancy to Vine Street and serves as an emblem of the inclusive and welcoming city we are all striving to create here in Cincinnati,” said 3CDC Development Director Brandy Del Favero.

“Cincinnati is a vibrant community, not only thriving with business and industry but also an increasingly diverse community of LGBTQ+ people.  This crosswalk is a physical manifestation of the kind of community we aspire to be a part of and create – a welcoming and inclusive one of all identities.  In the heart of our city’s most historic area, we shine an inclusive beacon to indicate to our guests and visitors that all are welcome here,” said Cincinnati Pride Director of Programming Dustin Lewis.
