A public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm.  This meeting will be conducted in person at Centennial II Plaza, 805 Central Avenue, Suite 700 in the Griesel Conference Room.  HUD issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) under the authority of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 which appropriates $85 million for competitive grant funding for the identification and removal of barriers to affordable housing production and preservation. Congress has directed HUD to undertake a competition using the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) statutory and regulatory framework. HUD will be accepting applications for PRO Housing grants to identify and remove barriers to affordable housing production and preservation.  The City intends to apply for funding and will be requesting up to $10 Million for eligible activities.  The purpose of this grant aligns with local goals to eliminate barriers to housing security, particularly for low-to moderate income families. Per the grant requirements, eligible activities must identify and seek to remove one or more barriers to affordable housing production and preservation, and must further develop, evaluate and implement housing policy plans, improve housing strategies, or facilitate affordable housing production and preservation.  City staff are hosting a public meeting to solicit feedback to the application and to consider this community input when making the funding request from HUD.
