Incident Description:

CFD units were dispatched due to a report of a fire at this address. As it was reported that there were
possibly still 2 children inside of the structure, a 2nd alarm was struck before initial units arrived on the
scene. On arrival, crews encountered heavy fire blowing out the front first floor windows of an end unit
2-story townhouse. The Mother and 2 children had self-evacuated themselves and they reported there
were still 2 children up on the 2nd floor. CFD units initiated a rapid attack on the fire with handlines on
the 1st floor while simultaneously advancing crews to the 2nd floor to search for the reported children.
Both children were found and quickly removed from the structure. A total of 3 children were transported
to Children's Hospital, 2 with life-threatening injuries. The fire was quickly knocked down and there was
no fire extension into any other units. The Cincinnati Fire Investigation unit was on scene investigating
the cause of the fire. Any further questions can be forwarded to the Cincinnati Fire Investigations Unit.
The CFD would like to remind the public of the importance of keeping bedroom doors closed at night
and ensure there are working smoke detectors on every floor of your residence.
