Incident Description:
CFD units were dispatched due to a 911 call stating the home at this address was on fire. First arriving
crews saw smoke coming from 1st floor entries of a 3-story wood frame multi-family structure. A
resident reported everyone was out of the house and directed crews to the back of the building stating
the fire was in the basement. An aggressive offensive attack was initiated with crews taking handlines
to the rear basement access and the 1st floor after the floor was determined to be structurally sound.
The fire in the basement was knocked down within 10 minutes and all fire extension into the walls of
the 1st floor walls were extinguished shortly thereafter. Primary searches on all levels were clear. Since
this was a larger structure it took a while for all the smoke and products of combustion to be removed
with forced ventilation. The smoke detectors in the structure were working and alerted the resident of
the fire. CFD Fire Investigators were dispatched and are still on the scene conducting their investigation
as to the cause. The Cincinnati Red Cross was contacted to assist one displaced family of 2 adults and
4 children.
