Walnut Street Closed at Central Parkway to Court Street for Kroger Grand Opening

CINCINNATI – Walnut Street will be closed to vehicular traffic at Central Parkway to Court Street from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. this Wednesday, Sept. 25, during Kroger Co.’s ribbon cutting ceremony for its downtown location.

The Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar and Metro buses will be allowed access to maintain normal passenger service during the closure.

Motorists will be detoured via Central Parkway south to Sycamore Street to Ninth or Race streets to Seventh.

In addition, westbound Court Street will be closed between Walnut and Main streets beginning at 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. to accommodate the company’s community celebration.

For the westbound Court Street closure, motorists will be detoured west at Central Parkway, south at Walnut and west again at Court Street. Motorists should follow the Walnut Street detour from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The retail grocery is part of an 18-story mixed-use tower that includes an eight-story parking garage, topped by eight stories of residential apartments.

The new Kroger location is adjacent to the Hamilton County Administration Building and is bounded by Court Street to the south, Walnut to the west and Central Parkway to the north.
