Lunken's "Airport Days" Celebration This Weekend

CINCINNATI – Calling all aviation enthusiasts! Lunken Airport hosts its annual "Airport Days" celebration this Saturday, Sept. 1, and Sunday, Sept. 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Admission is free to the family-friendly event, which includes a mix of thematic activities, public displays and the opportunity to talk one-on-one with representatives from area flying and aircraft maintenance schools.
This year’s highlights, which are free unless noted, include:
- New "911" memorial display
- Helicopter rides ($45 per person)
- Learn-to-draw sessions with an aviation artist (2:00 p.m. each day)
- Scavenger hunt for kids
- “Legacy of Courage” book signing by co-authors Peter Bronson and Cheryl Popp
- Public displays of AirCare helicopter, fire trucks and model railroad
- Daily Color Guard-led flag ceremony at noon
- Big band and patriotic music
- Hot dogs, snacks and pop (served to first 1,000 visitors each day at noon)
- Shade tent with picnic tables
NOTE: Rides aboard the World War II-era B 17 bomber have been canceled due to a maintenance issue. Those who pre-purchased tickets are being notified by the aircraft operator. For more information or questions, please call 1-800-359-6217.
Free parking is available at several lots near the airport.
Lunken Airport is the city’s municipal airport at 262 Wilmer Ave., off Kellogg Avenue in Cincinnati's East End neighborhood.
