Lunken's "Airport Days" Celebration This Saturday, Sept. 2 and Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017

CINCINNATI – Calling all aviation enthusiasts! Lunken Airport hosts its annual "Airport Days" celebration tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 2, and Sunday, Sept. 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Admission is free to the family-friendly event, which includes a mix of thematic activities, public displays and the opportunity to talk one-on-one with representatives from area flying and aircraft maintenance schools.

This year’s highlights, which are free unless noted, include:

  • Hot dogs, snacks and pop
  • Helicopter rides ($45 per person)
  • Vintage B 17 bomber rides (see flyer below for cost)
  • Learn-to-draw sessions with an aviation artist
  • Scavenger hunt
  • “Legacy of Courage” book signing by co-authors Peter Bronson and Cheryl Popp
  • Public displays of AirCare helicopter, fire trucks and model railroad
  • Daily Color Guard-led flag ceremony at noon
  • Big band and patriotic music

The World War II-era bomber, nicknamed "Aluminum Overcast," will be on site beginning today, Friday, Sept. 1, through Monday, Sept. 4. Get details in the flyer below, or visit www.b17.org.

Free parking is available at several lots near the airport.

Lunken Airport is the city’s municipal airport at 262 Wilmer Ave., off Kellogg Avenue in Cincinnati's East End neighborhood.
