Grovedale Bridge Demo Begins Tomorrow as Part of Wasson Way Trail
Dec 04, 2017
CINCINNATI – Grovedale Place will be closed intermittently starting tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 15, so crews may dismantle part of an overhead railroad bridge near its intersection at Sigsbee Street in Hyde Park. Crews will rebuild the unsalvageable parts of the bridge later this winter and next spring.
The demolition crew will do the majority of its work from above the bridge by crane, cutting out concrete chunks and steel beams.
Grovedale will be closed for short periods, as needed, to remove debris. The closures, which will take place on weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., are needed for safety. They will last no more than 15 minutes for each pass.
Flaggers will be on site to direct motorists.
Grovedale is the only street access for approximately 100 residences in this area that includes Westgate, Middlebrook and Marlington avenues, and Downing Drive.
The work is part of the Wasson Way Trail. The first phase of the trail’s construction began last month and is slated to be finished by early summer 2018. This phase stretches about a half mile between Tamarack Avenue and Madison Road. The full length of the trail extends four miles through 10 Cincinnati neighborhoods.
