Fourth Street Closing Between Race and Elm This Weekend for Crane Removal

Sep 30, 2020

CINCINNATI – West Fourth Street will be closed between Elm and Race streets this weekend so crews can remove the remaining tower crane at the construction site of a 14-story apartment building.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and will remain in place until late afternoon Sunday, Oct. 4.

Motorists traveling on Fourth Street will be detoured south at Race Street, west on Third Street, north on Elm and back to Fourth.

Local and pedestrian access will be allowed during the closure via the south sidewalk along Fourth Street. Delivery vehicles should use Benham Alley.

As part of the removal process, crews will use another crane to dismantle the tower crane. The first tower crane was removed in mid-September.

The Fourth and Race project, a partnership between 3CDC and Flaherty & Collins Properties, includes 264 apartment units, a 584-space garage and street-level retail. The garage is scheduled to open in late November and the apartments are expected to open in summer 2021.
