Central Parkway Reimagined: Public Invited to Oct. 26 Open House to See the Draft Preferred Alternative Design

Sep 27, 2023

CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Department of Transportation & Engineering (DOTE) and its consultant will share the draft preferred alternative design for the Central Parkway Reimagined project at a public open house in Over-the-Rhine on Thursday, Oct. 26.

The open house begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Green Room at Memorial Hall, 1225 Elm St.

The preferred alternative draft is based on public input on four initial concepts shared online and at a public workshop in late August. See images below. More than 100 residents, business owners and other stakeholders attended the workshop and nearly 300 have since submitted comments online.

“We’re excited to share this draft design and look forward to getting the public’s input on it as we move closer to a final preferred alternative,” said Jeff Stine, the city’s project manager. “We’re inspired by the many thoughtful and creative comments we’ve received throughout this process.”

The goal of the project is to transform the north-south stretch of Central Parkway by Music Hall and TQL Stadium into more vibrant, greener and user-friendly roadway that connects Downtown’s Central Business District, OTR and the West End while prioritizing safety and mobility for all travelers by incorporating “Complete Street” principles.

In addition to sharing the draft preferred alternative design at the meeting next month, the project team will review the purpose of the project and summarize the results of the feedback from the August workshop and current online survey, which closes this Sunday, Oct. 1.

Those unable to attend the upcoming open house will be able to view the same information on the project website, including a video of the presentation and downloadable illustrations of the draft preferred alternative. All are encouraged to share feedback via a new online survey, which will be posted on the project website after the open house.

The project team plans to share the final version of the preferred alternative, which will include preliminary cost estimates for construction, by the end of the year.
