Nature Encounters In Burnet Woods
Spring is finally here! Join us every Saturday at the Trailside Nature Center for a variety of nature themed programming. All free – and FUN! No registration needed.
All programs either meet or take place at the Trailside Nature Center.
May 6th – Butterflies
Butterflies are a childhood favorite and brighten any garden they visit. Come to Trailside Nature Center to learn about 10 local butterflies that may already be visiting your yard. We will talk about what plants attract butterflies, the importance of butterflies and have the opportunity to play a butterfly themed game!
May 13th – Planet Walk
Space… the final frontier! Have you ever wished to visit the other planets in our solar system? Well, now’s your chance. Join us for a guided walk along Burnet Woods scale model, planet walk. We’ll take a tour of the solar system as if it were only 1 mile in length… and stop along the way at each planet to learn fascinating facts.
May 20th – Kids to Parks Day
Come celebrate Kids to Parks Day in Burnet Woods! The Camping and Education Foundation will be providing canoeing on the lake. Hit the woods for a self-guided nature scavenger hunt – and be sure to check out Trailside for an in-depth look at the local wildlife that calls Burnet Woods home.
May 27th – Story Time + Meet a Turtle
Bring your wild ones to Trailside for story time at the nature center! We’ll gather in the Nature Library for a story about turtles followed by a meet and greet with our own Eastern Box Turtle. A fascinating look at one of our most accessible wild animals!
