Krohn Discovery Space featuring Children's Hospital
Join Children’s Hospital here at Krohn Conservatory for a horticulture-based activity to inspire connection to growth and embrace our unique selves.
Seed heads are a fun and creative way for kids to learn about the life cycle of plants and how it can relate to their own growth journey. All living things have needs, and learning about our needs can set us up for a life full of joy, safety, and learning. Giving these seed heads what they need will steadily help them grow in multiple directions. Similarly, when kids have access to a healthy environment, where they feel safe and secure, they will grow. The act of nurturing a plant and seeing it grow can provide a sense of accomplishment and boost one’s sense of self-worth. Caring for these seed heads can encourage nurturing skills, provide opportunity to practice caring gestures and lastly, to plant positivity in our minds. It combines educational, physical, and psychological benefits within a fun and engaging format, making it a valuable way to engage with our natural world, while inspiring imagination and connection.
