Wasson Way Trail: Upcoming Street Closures for Railroad Track Removal

Apr 21, 2017

CINCINNATI - Beginning Monday, April 24, a contractor hired by Norfolk Southern Railway will remove railroad tracks that extend across the following streets so the City of Cincinnati can start construction of the Wasson Way trail this summer:

  • Monteith Avenue (south of Wasson Road)
  • Hyde Park Avenue (south of Wasson Road)
  • Shaw Avenue (south of Wasson Road)
  • Michigan Avenue (south of Wasson Road)
  • Edwards Road (south of Madison Road)
  • Madison Road (west of Edwards Road)
  • Montgomery Road (north of Dana Avenue)

Work will begin at Monteith Avenue and move west. Each street will be under construction for one day, and only one street will be under construction at a time. One-day detours will be in place while work occurs on Monteith, Hyde Park, Shaw and Michigan avenues.

One lane will remain open to traffic on Madison, Edwards and Montgomery roads during construction. Work on Madison and Edwards roads will take place overnight in order to minimize the traffic impact.

Norfolk Southern has almost completed the removal of railroad tracks and ties throughout the rest of the railroad corridor. This work is necessary to allow the City to move forward with trail construction, which is expected to start in August.
