CINCINNATI, OH – A City of Cincinnati certified minority-owned company is continuing to make a difference in the community in which it operates. Journey Steel, a steel fabrication and erection company, has signed on two new high school students to its Journey Soaring Impact Pre-Apprentice program. The program helps disadvantage youth get hands on training in the steel industry while still in high school and upon graduation become eligible to be a first-year apprentice union Ironworker.
On hand for this year’s signing and to congratulate the latest graduate of the program was Ronald Todd II, Minority Affairs Liaison from Governor DeWine’s office.
Journey Steel is a City certified MBE/WBE/SBE. Journey Steel’s president is Barbara Smith who was recently recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration for “sparking” economic development in Cincinnati, Ohio.
